Assignment #12 - Getting Familiar with Flash Power

This lesson was all about understanding how flash power relates to your depth of field, so that you can understand your options when making creative decisions with your flash.

Therefore your assignment is as follows:

Take a setup similar to what was shown in the video and try this for yourself. Place a subject a couple of feet from a textured background and shoot the subject straight on. Using a bare-bulb flash, place the light about a meter away from the subject and begin taking exposures at different f-stops. Use your camera's base ISO (mine was ISO 100) and keep your shutter speed at your camera's maximum sync speed (mine was 1/200s). Discover the range of f-stops you can use with your flash.

Post your range and any pictures you come up with in our Discord server.

Good luck and looking forward to seeing what you get!

When you're ready, move on to the next lesson.
